Some thoughts about innovation…

… not my own innovations – unfortunately. Collected for a business presentation.

  • Latin innovatus: “to renew or change”
  • Schumpeter: “creative destruction is the essential fact about capitalism.”
  • Peter F. Drucker:  “Innovation is the ability to see change as an opportunity – not a threat”
  • Joseph F. Engelberger: “Innovations require only three things: 1. A recognized need, 2. Competent people with relevant technology, and 3. Financial support”
  • Michael Porter: “(…) continual innovation is paramount for any specialized firm to succeed”
  • Albert Einstein: “If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.”
  • Edmund Burke: “To innovate is not to reform.”
  • Walter Lippmann: “When all think alike, then no one is thinking.” So much on “Great minds think alike.”…
  • Woody Allen: “If you’re not failing every now and again, it’s a sign you’re not doing anything  very innovative.”

… and again Peter F. Drucker: “…defending yesterday – that is, not innovating – is far more risky than making tomorrow.”
